Kenyan Shilling Ends Week Higher Against USD

The Kenyan shilling ended the week on Friday higher against the U.S. dollar as it crossed into the 101.20 margin.

The currency exchanged at an average of 101.20 against the dollar, a huge leap from 101.28 in the previous session.

The Central Bank of Kenya quoted the shilling at 101.20 per dollar, with the currency having surged from 101.28.

The East African nation's commercial banks, on the other hand, placed the currency at between 101.05 and 101.25 to the dollar, up from 101.20 and 101.40.

Forex traders said the demand for dollars from importers remained low, with the situation helping to stabilize the shilling, as inflows from horticulture steadied.

Against the British pound, the shilling was firm to close at 140.45, the same level it stood in the Thursday. The shilling is expected to rise in the short-term boosted by growing inflows and low demand of dollars.
