British stocks rose on Tuesday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index up by 0.37 percent, or 28.08 points, to close at 7,537.92 points.

Carnival, a cruise company, soared 3.13 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. Miner BHP Billiton and NEXT increased by 2.51 percent and 2.42 percent, respectively.

International Consolidated Airlines Group (IAG) was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 3.53 percent.

Compass Group, a multinational contract foodservice company, dropped 2.26 percent. Micro Focus International, a multinational software and information technology business, fell 2.24 percent.
