British stocks rose on Monday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index up by 0.73 percent, or 56.36 points, to close at 7,737.43 points.

Evraz,a multinational vertically integrated steel making and mining company, soared 7.53 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. NMC Health and Marks & Spencer Group increased by 3.84 percent and 2.66 percent, respectively.

Old Mutual,an international investment group , was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 1.89 percent. Mediclinic International, an international private hospital group, dropped 1.31 percent.

Barratt Developments, a residential property development company, fell 1.19 percent.
