British stocks rose on Thursday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index up by 0.81 percent, or 62.08 points, to close at 7,765.79 points.

Rolls-royce holdings, an engineering company, soared 6.54 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. Smurfit kappa group and Centrica increased by 3.25 percent and 2.99 percent, respectively.

Unilever,one of the world's largest consumer goods companies, was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 2.81 percent. Relx, a multinational information and analytics company , dropped 2.75 percent. Antofagasta, a copper mining company, fell 1.53 percent.
