Chinese Shares Close Higher On Tuesday - June 12
 

Chinese shares closed higher Tuesday, boosted by the liquor-making sector.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index went up 0.89 percent to close at 3,079.80 points. The Shenzhen Component Index closed 1.38 percent higher at 10,315.28 points.

Combined turnover stood at 351.1 billion yuan (54.9 billion U.S. dollars), up from 320.9 billion yuan the previous trading day.

More than 2,000 shares on the two bourses surged with the liquor-making sector leading the gains.

The sub-index for the liquor-making sector rose 3.71 percent, followed by a 2.85-percent increase in the home appliance sector and 1.79-percent gain in the coal sector.

Anhui Gujing Distillery Company rose 8.96 percent to close at 90.98 yuan per share, and Shanxi Xinghuacun Fen Wine Factory surged 4.95 percent to close at 66.61 yuan per share.

The ChiNext Index, which tracks China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, gained 1.43 percent to close at 1,712.77 points Tuesday.
