Chinese Shares Close Lower on Monday - June 11
 

Chinese shares closed lower Monday, dragged down by the medical equipment sector.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index went down 0.47 percent to end at 3,052.78 points. The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.3 percent lower at 10,175.35 points.

Combined turnover stood at 320.9 billion yuan (50.1 billion U.S. dollars), down from 354.1 billion yuan the previous trading day.

More than 2,000 shares on the two bourses lost with the medical equipment sector leading the decline.

The sub-index for the medical equipment sector dropped 2.41 percent, followed by a 2.18 percent decrease in the food sector and 1.56 percent decline in the shipbuilding sector.

Hunan Chinasun Pharmaceutical Machinery dropped by the daily limit of 10 percent to close at 8.36 yuan per share, and Hangzhou Tigermed Consulting lost 4.58 percent to close at 55.15 yuan per share.

The ChiNext Index, which tracks China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, fell 1.34 percent to close at 1,688.62 points Monday.
