German stocks closed flat on Friday, with the benchmark DAX index down 21.63 points, or 0.17 percent, to close at 13,001.24 points.

Multinational building materials company HeidelbergCement lost 1.68 percent, the top loser among the blue chips, followed by energy group E.ON and European health care company Fresenius SE, which lost 1.30 percent and 0.98 percent respectively.

German airlines Lufthansa gained 2.46 percent, being the top gainer. Deutsche Post advanced 1.44 percent. Industrial giant Thyssenkrupp went up by 1.05 percent.

Multinational software corporation SAP was the most traded share with a turnover of 239.69 million euros (286.04 million U.S. dollars).
