German stocks closed flat on Tuesday, with the benchmark DAX index down 0.61 points, or 0.00 percent, to close at 12,842.30 points.

Deutsche Post lost 2.41 percent, the top loser among the blue chips, followed by semiconductor manufacturer Infineon Technologies and Commerzbank, which lost 2.30 percent and 1.29 percent respectively.

Energy group E.ON gained 1.85 percent, the top gainer. Automotive manufacturer Daimler advanced 1.72 percent, and multinational chemical firm Linde went up by 1.60 percent.

German multinational chemical and pharmaceutical company Bayer was the most traded share, with a turnover of 696.83 million euros (821.42 million U.S. dollars).
