German stocks fell on Friday, with the benchmark DAX index down 44.50 points, or 0.35 percent, to close at 12,766.55 points.

Deutsche Post lost 3.78 percent, the top loser among the blue chips, followed by industrial giant Thyssenkrupp and Commerzbank, which lost 2.18 percent and 1.80 percent respectively.

German multinational software corporation SAP gained 2.03 percent, becoming the top gainer. Housing association Vonovia advanced 1.98 percent. Sportswear and equipment maker Adidas went up by 1.81 percent.

Deutsche Post was the most traded share with a turnover of 489.03 million euros (574.80 million U.S. dollars).
