German stocks rose on Monday, with the benchmark DAX index up 76.36 points, or 0.60 percent, to close at 12,842.91 points.

Commerzbank won the most among the blue chips, with its shares up 3.64 percent. German telecommunications company Deutsche Telekom and chemical group BASF rose by 2.67 percent and 2.07 percent respectively.

Deutsche Post lost the most among the blue chips, by falling 3.42 percent. Tire specialist Continental was down by 1.57 percent. Marketplace organizer for the trading of shares and securities Deutsche Boerse group was down by 1.45 percent.

German multinational chemical and pharmaceutical company Bayer was the most-traded share with a turnover of 471.26 million euros (555.61 million U.S. dollars).
