German stocks rose on Thursday, with the benchmark DAX index up 79.81 points, or 0.62 percent, to close at 13,022.87 points.

Multinational chemical firm Linde won the most among the blue chips, with its shares up 3.58 percent. Energy group RWE and pharmaceutical company Merck rose by 1.41 percent and 1.36 percent respectively.

Housing association Vonovia lost the most among the blue chips, by falling 3.57 percent. German insurance and financial services company Allianz down by 3.51 percent. Multinational building materials company Heidelberg Cement down by 3.17 percent.

Manufacturing and electronics company Siemens was the most-traded share with a turnover of 268.42 million euros (318.82 million U.S. dollars).
