German stocks rose on Friday, with the benchmark DAX index up 119.38 points, or 0.95 percent, to close at 12,724.27 points.

Commerzbank won the most among the blue chips, with its shares up 4.29 percent. Industrial giant Thyssenkrupp and Deutsche Bank rose by 2.48 percent and 2.32 percent respectively.

Housing association Vonovia lost the most among the blue chips, by falling 1.33 percent. Energy group RWE lost 1.08 percent. Sportswear and equipment maker Adidas was down by 0.59 percent.

Deutsche Bank was the most-traded share, with a turnover of 350.53 million euros (409.03 million U.S. dollars).
