German stocks rose on Friday, with the benchmark DAX index up 128.77 points, or 1.06 percent, to close at 12,306.00 points.

Material manufacturer Covestro won the most among the blue chips, with its shares up 3.49 percent. Insurance and financial services company Allianz and semiconductor manufacturer Infineon Technologies rose by 2.71 percent and 2.39 percent respectively.

Automotive manufacturer Volkswagen was the only loser among the blue chips, by falling 0.92 percent.

Allianz was the most-traded share with a turnover of 397.34 million euros (463.21 million U.S. dollars).
