ICBC E-banking Code Card, another new security product for E-banking after the
successful launch of "USB-Shield", allows more customers to enjoy
the secure and convenient E-banking services.
I. What is E-banking Code Card E-banking Code Card is ICBC latest E-banking security tool and is another measure for protection against monetary loss. Money in the account will be safe once Code Card is securely held. Customer will not suffer any lost even when his logon card number, logon password are accidentally disclosed. So long as the customer's logon card number, logon password and Code Card are not together disclosed to the same person, the customer can now enjoy E-banking services with more security and no worry.
On the Code Card is printed with a matrix of
character strings. When customer makes payment through E-banking for
outward transfer, B2C shopping or bill, E-banking system will
randomly give a group of Code Card coordinates. Customer
locates the password combination from the Code Card based on
the coordinates and inputs to E-banking system. Only customer who
correctly enters password combination can make payment. Password
combination only effective once and becomes invalid after payment
completed. |

II. Why E-banking Use
Code Card E-banking Code Card is a new security tool introduced by ICBC to meet the
demands of E-banking users, where full consideration is given on
security and cost factors. In terms of security, convenience and
price, E-banking Code Card is different from plain password and
USB-Shield, as shown below.

III. Application and Use of
Code Card ¡¤ Application for
Code Card
From August 10 , 2006,
if you have signed up ICBC Internet Banking but not applied for a
USB-Shield yet, you can apply for an E-banking Code Card at
ICBC business office with your valid ID card and the Peony Card used
in registering Internet Banking. If you have not signed up Internet
Banking and have no intention to use USB-Shield, you can sign up
Internet Banking and apply for an E-banking Code Card directly
at ICBC business office with your valid ID card.
When collecting your Code Card, please check if
the packaging film and covering film are intact as shown below. You
should request to change if there are any damages.

¡¤ Use of Code Card After applying for and taking the E-banking code card, when you make a transfer out, B2B shopping, payment for fees or other payment transactions with E-banking, E-banking System will randomly give a group of Code Card coordinates. You have to locate the password combination from the Code Card based on the coordinates and input to E-banking system.

Please scratch the Code Card coordinates at A3,
B2 following the dynamic password coordinates prompted by the System
(It is recommended to scratch the needed coordinates for better
protection of the Code Card), as shown below: |

When scratched, input by the order the passwords
located at A3, B2 into the box for dynamic password: 136135 (no
spaces in between) and input the verification code, and then click
"confirm".

¡¤ Daily
Maintenance of E-banking Code Card Scratched passwords on the Code Card can be used
repeatedly. Each Code Card can be used 1000 times. ICBC
Internet Banking offers a function for enquiry on the status of
Code Card for your convenience. As shown below, you can enquiry
on the details such as Card Number, Application Date, Amount of
Times Used, Amount of Times Remained by logging on Internet Banking,
and clicking "Enquiry on Customer Information Changes" under
"Customer Service". Code Card can be only used by yourself.
Please keep the password of the card safely to prevent others from
stealing, copying or photographing. Renew the card timely in case it
is lost accidentally or when card details have been disclosed.

Please take great precaution on
your Card Number and Password for your safety when using Internet
Banking services. Computer used for logging on Internet Banking must
be reliable. Update anti-virus software regularly and download
patches timely. Do not open programs, links and emails from
unidentified senders. Always access Internet Banking in a proper
way. Protect your E-banking Code Card. Do not lend it to
anyone, and stop others from copying or photographing your
Card.

IV. FAQ ¡¤
How E-banking Code Card is Different from Static Password and
USB-Shield? Compared to Static
password, E-banking Code Card is more reliable, higher payment
limit and more functions. Compared to USB-Shield, E-banking Code Card may have less advanced encryption/authentication, but
it costs less, convenient to use, fully addresses common risks such
as hacking, bogus websites or trojan virus. It is very suitable for
Internet Banking customers who demand less on payment limit. ICBC
USB-Shield is recommended if you wish to use all Internet Banking
functions and want higher security.
¡¤ Does it mean that Internet Banking Account is
completely safe once I have E-banking Code Card?
Code Card is a reliable E-banking
security tool. It can effectively guard against risks arising from
all kinds of internet fraud. However, Code Card still expose to
non-technical risks such as being lost or secretly viewed,
photographing or copied. To avoid such risks, it is recommended to
keep Code Card in a safe place. Besides, always access Internet
in a proper manner. Do not download or click any software or emails
from unknown sources. You'd better not to access Internet Banking at
public places (Internet Caf¨¦, public library). Install licensed
anti-virus software and firewall and update timely to stop virus
from intrusion. Avoid important information such as Card Number,
Password, and ID Number to be divulged.
¡¤ Any Fee to Apply for an E-banking Code Card? To bring more convenience services to Internet Banking customers with security, ICBC is providing free E-banking Code Card to customers at present. Internet Banking customers can apply for it at ICBC business office with valid ID card and the Peony Card used in registering Internet Banking.

Any Limitation on When and How Many Times in Using E-banking Code Card? Currently,
there is no limitation on when to use, but limited to be used 1000
times. ICBC will remind you before your Code Card have been
used more than allowed. Alternatively, logon Internet Banking, click
"Enquiry on Customer Information Changes" to check how many times
remained. Please come to ICBC business office to apply for the new
Code Card when Code Card is used more than 1000
times.
¡¤ What Should I Do if Dynamic
Password is Misinput When Making Online Transaction? Please verify carefully and enter again if password is
misinput. To protect the security of customer's Internet Banking
Account, ICBC will temporary freeze the transaction qualification
for Internet banking on a day if dynamic password is misinput for 3
consecutive times. The freeze will be automatically released on the
next day. If dynamic password is misinput for 10 consecutive times
cumulatively, ICBC will freeze the transaction qualification for
Internet banking. Customer has to change the new card at ICBC
Counter.
¡¤ My E-banking Code Card
is lost, what should I do£¿
If your
E-banking Code Card is lost accidentally, please get a new one
at ICBC business office using your valid ID card and Internet
Banking Registered Card. Old Card will be void once a new one is
applied. If you are not available now to come to ICBC business
office to apply for the new card, please logon Internet Banking,
enter "Customer Service" --> "Personalized Setting", close the
two functions of "e-Commerce" and "Outward Transfer". These two
functions can only be opened again at ICBC business office after
being closed.
¡¤ What Should I Do if My
Code Card is Damaged? In such
case, please apply for a new card at ICBC business office using your
valid ID Card and Internet Banking Registered Card. The old
Code Card will become invalid by itself.
¡¤ What
Should I Do if Payment Limit of Code Card does not meet My
Demand? Please apply for an USB-Shield.
USB-Shield is a hardware encryption with higher security. USB-Shield
is not restricted by any limit when making Internet Banking
transactions. |
