It is learnt that 2008 annual results of technology awards by The Banker of UK announced recently that ICBC was honored by Best Business Continuity Management Award. Following the "Best Web Application Award" in 2006 and the "Best Cash Management Application Award" in 2007, this is the third consecutive year for ICBC to win technology awards of The Banker.

According to the authorities, the fact that ICBC was honored by Best Business Continuity Management Award suggests that the construction of disaster backup system of ICBC has achieved the international advanced level.

It is introduced that ICBC is the first among domestic large commercial banks who has completed the comprehensive disaster backup system for both the same city and remote places, which secures the stability of the operation of information system and provides a secure and reliable information and technology platform for the rapid development of various businesses. Among which, thousands of kilometers degree disaster backup system completed in 2005 is the largest in the domestic banking industry and achieves the sixth degree defined by national disaster backup standard SHARE92. In 2007, ICBC implemented a project to back up the production centre main computer in the same city, which enhanced the capacity, performance and technology of disaster backup system to the international advanced level. Meanwhile, ICBC has also implemented information and technology continuous plan (ITCP), forming a relatively comprehensive emergency information system and disaster backup management mechanism, and insisting on emergency rehearsals for disaster recovery on business level of ICBC each year.Besides, ICBC was the first among the industry to conduct sharing venues disaster backup construction on intensive operation center of ICBC's headquarter, becoming the first bank among the domestic custody industry who officially implements disaster backup recovery rehearsals.
